Known for a long time by producers across the country, Touriga Nacional has proven to be the most noble and iconic grape variety nationally, having been present in the Douro for more than 3 centuries.
At Quinta das Carvalhas, Touriga Nacional represents 25 ha of the farm's total vineyard area (134.5 ha) and is the most planted variety.
They discovered in the Cascalheira vineyard, located next to the Torto river, a portion of this famous grape variety which, benefiting from very poor soils, south-facing sun exposure and a very particular micro-climate, presents very powerful wines of enormous complexity and aromatic intensity. .
